At 12,000 ft at the top of Santa Fe Ski Basin you can ski off the lift and gaze out over the snowy slopes to the soft lavender and vermilion Rio Grande valley, and up again to the distant Jemez mountains across the valley. You can see all the way north to Colorado, and a good part of the way east to the Arizona border.

Here some snow-packed trees provide lovely sculptures high on the long run back to base.
