The Burr Trail starts off a dirt road running north of Lake Powell in remote southern Utah. It switchbacks up a sandstone hogback called Waterpocket Fold, runs west over a couple of colorful ridges, turns south down Long Canyon and heads for Escalante. The sandstone colors run from white through yellow, peach, cantaloupe and brick, with soft Chinle badlands striped green, maroon, lavender and blue eroding out between the layers of sandstone. One of the beautiful and remote places in this country.
